When parents find out that they are expecting a baby, they usually rush out and tell everybody who would listen. Some go enthusiastically to a furniture store, ready and proud to spend money on wallpaper.
Designing a nursery for the arriving baby can be exhilirating. The fun starts with choosing the right wallpaper. You don't want your kid to have just any wallpaper. With so many designs to choose from, finding the right one is a little bit easier.
The wallpaper and floors will be the basis of your nursery design. You need to get them pinned down first before buying anything else. There are endless options in decorations that you may want to consider taking your time to find the right style that will suit your taste. Don’t forget that your little one will have certain tastes as well. The latter part is a bit hard. How can you tell what tastes your kid will have? I wouldn't dare suggest, of course. No one knows your child more than you do. Try to avoid a room theme. Make it as varied as possible without making it look crazy and cluttered.
You could try painted murals on the walls instead of wallpaper. The big problem comes when you discover that the mural isn't exactly what your baby wants. Do you repaint and expose the baby to the paint's chemicals and fumes or do you just tear down the wallpaper and paste in a new theme?
Sometimes personal preferences of a parent can get in the way. Imagine a den being transformed into a nursery. Naturally, the wooden paneled walls look good. It's kinda hard to paint over, stick anything or to take down the wood. Bearing that in mind, you might decide to leave things as they are. Is it a good environment for your baby?
Whatever it looks like, remember that it's all about your kid. Because your kid lives there, you want it safe as it can be. Paint peels. If it does, then you can be rest assured the whole wall will start to peel. If you did your walls with wallpaper, one panel peeling would be no trouble at all as the panel could be taken down easily with out the chemicals and smells that comes with paint. |
